Tanya Foggoa from Great Western Hospital asks:
I’m hoping someone can shed some light on their annual flu campaign.
The most challenging thing for us at the moment is getting staff to sign an opt-out form if they can’t or don’t want to have the flu vaccine.
Staff are more comfortable letting us know their preference verbally but most of them are not so willing to put their names down on a form, so I was wondering if in your Trust, verbal consent is taken into account and counted towards the opt-out figures? Or is written consent a must?
At the moment our CCG is accepting opt outs as part of our figures but has to be via written consent.
Just really trying to get an idea of how other Trusts are encouraging their staff or how they are allaying their fears in regards to completing one.
