We are dedicated to maintaining a healthy, motivated workforce
Tracy Scott from The Mid Yorkshire Hospital NHS Trust asks:
“There will be some employees who due to the new QCOVID modelling will now be receiving shielding letters who were not asked to participate in any previous shielding requirements. Some of those employees are stating they are unwilling to shield and feel their risk has been over-estimated.
Please can I ask whether:
1. Your organisation is taking a view that if an employee receives a new shielding letter they must either work from home or stay at home and not be allowed to attend work under any circumstances?
2. Your organisation is taking an individual risk based approach where employees are clearly stating they would like to continue to attend work?
My own organisation has yet to make a decision so I would be interested in some benchmarking. Please note I am not saying we should allow clinically extremely vulnerable workers to work because they want to, regardless of the risk. We do however have some staff who are genuinely bewildered by their shielding letters.”
